I have just turned in my Japan transit visa application today ( I'm a Chinese citizen and green card holder) and everything seems fine until the rep found out that I disclose a criminal record of a recent DUI charge(in August). He asked me about the DUI, I told him that I've done with all the court appearing, there was no jail time, I'm currently in the diversion program and granted permit to leave outside of the state. The rep first asked me if I have a FBI record I told him I don't, then he said since I put this(DUI)down on the application, the Japan consulate might need me to provide more document (to prove that this is my only charge on my record) It doesn't take that long to obtain a criminal record from the local police, the problem is if they ask me for a FBI record which would usually take up to 12 weeks (I'll be leaving in 7 weeks)

I provided them my original court paper, the paper indicates that I granted permission to leave the state, and the paper that indicated I'm currently in the diversion program (the rep also asked me if I'm okay to miss the alcohol treatment, I told him I already talk to my treatment counselor and the answer is okay) At the end he issued me a receipt with a case number of my visa application, told me that at the meanwhile he doesn't know how long my visa will take to process, but they will contact me if they need more document or when it's done processing. In the end the rep told me -- "The good thing is you still have a plenty of time." I don't see that would be a good thing if they ask me to turn in a FBI record(due to lack of time to get one)

I'm really worried if my application will be denied since I couldn't provide a FBI record but a state issue criminal record (if they ask for it) Anyone knows if a criminal record from police works for a Japan transit visa?
