Hi, I'm kind of stuck. So I've been playing the flute since 5th-7th grade so about 1-3 years. Well now I want to play a different instrument, but I can't decide between a keyboard or electric guitar. I know it'll be a little easier for me to learn how to play a keyboard piano because its in the key of C which is the same as a flute I think. But I really like the guitar too because it's cool. But like everyone and their mom plays it, so I'm stuck.
Any opinions, tips or advice would be great. If I could I'd leanr both, but I've gotta pick.
Update:Sorry, I didn't know. I'm just a beginner to music so I don't really know all of the proper terms and all that

Both are great instruments. One of the reasons for the popularity of guitar is that it is very portable, unlike keys. Keys can be more versatile musically though.
I found the guitar to be easier to learn. And it is easier to find music transcribed for it for free.
Good luck
I learned piano as a kid, and then went to the guitar after high school. I prefer the guitar since it is more portable if you want to jam with friends, and you can play many syles of music on it. So what if everyone else plays one too...more people to learn from. Thats how I started learning, from a boyfriend that also played. He showed me some basic stuff, and i went with it from there. I am just learning again after about 10 years of not playing, hubby got me one for Christmas and just trying to remember what i used to know is challenging (and frustrating!) Also with guitar, you don't have to read music, so dont let that deter you. Tablature is pretty easy to pick up and you can get all kinds of song books to learn from once you get it down. Dont invest in really expensive stuff at first though. You can get a decent quality guitar and amp for less than 500, then if you stick with it and get good you can always upgrade if you want. Higher quality and famous names (Fender, Gibson, etc.) will cost more, and if you dont like it you will be out a lot of money. Either way...good luck and be patient with yourself, it takes time!
I would advise playing whatever you feel like playing , not just because it's cool. I've played keyboards all my life, and started playing guitar officially for my band last year, and I'm having a blast. I play both, and love both, why don't you learn both??
I'd go with the electric guitar, because it's easy to carry around, and a fun instrument to learn, you can hundreds of thousands of songs with it.
A piano is not "in the key of C". As with many other instruments, you determine what key you're playing in. I highly recommend that, regardless of which instrument you choose, you take music theory and chord progression.
who says the keyboard is in the key of C??? ...depending on what notes you use, you can play it in any key. I play the piano but i wish i could play the guitar.
