1-Its...not a plus, but it wont be a minus. You dont have to be korean, but your language and pronunciation might be a minus.
2-SM isnt a minor entertainment. There are a bunch of minor entertainments, but if you wanna debut and actually get known...You might want to get into one of those bigger entertainments.
3-No. If you have the talent, they wont care. After you are accepted for your talent, they will put you on diet and make you get braces.
4-Neither. Just the language barrier. Practice pronunciation even if you dont understand it.
5-The president of the entertainment company decides which would be appropriate. If you are really talented, you can go solo and get all the money to yourself. If you are a group, you share it with 5 to 13 other people.
6-Yeah, it seems like an appropriate age.
7-You go up one level at a time. All entertainments are different. Sometimes, there are auditions scheduled. Some only accept by mail. Go on the website of the company you wanna audition for.
8-Uhm...not really.
9-Depends on how important you are to the company and how much the company is willing to spend for you to air on tv.
10-Not sure what the question is asking. Yes...you have to go to every scheduled event...or else they wont want to hire you anymore for missing a schedule...
11-You probably wont even debut right away... but if you did, they let you finish high school. College is your choice. if you want to. You might miss alot of school days after you debut. While you havent debuted, you will go to the training right after you get out of school and go home really late. You can stay longer and practice if you want to get better.
12-You release an album and then you are crazy busy for a few months or something. And then you dont have any more schedules, but you have to practice and record and all that. You might have some free time then.
13-They WILL tell them to go away, but if you are famous and popular enough, you can say nicely to your manager, dont be like that to my fans and take the gift and smile at the fan. Then that fan might spread all over the internet that you are a really nice person or something lol
14-Autographs take a little bit more time. If you are busy and your manager stops them, just cover your face and keep walking. If you are just strolling the streets and fans start swarming, just sign them. Dont act like a b*tch and act like you are tired and annoyed. You will get anti-fans.
15-Papparazis will always be there. If you arent doing anything to hide, just be whatever and call your manager to get you outta there. Dont do anything you dont wanna get caught by a paparazzi.
I'm going to be completely 100% honest here.
1. You don't have to be, but there has never been a kpop star who wasn't asian. It would be strange and I'm extremely sure that so far no companies have accepted any non asian people.
2. You need to be hella talented in at least one category to audition, so maybe practice singing more.
3. No they change that about you while you practice.
4. Being American very much lessens your chances here since once again, they only accept asians. If you were Korean but spoke english then a lot of people would think highly of you, but that isn't the case here.
5. the company decides, you don't really have a say.
6. It would have been much better if you'd have tried out when you were 11-13 since they make you practice for usually more than 5 yeas and still want you at a very young age when you debut. 15 is oldish for this, but not too bad.
7. Idk
8. ? this makes no sense
9. what do you mean perform....
10. It would be questioned why you weren't there at either and the company would expect you to be at every interview.
11. You would go to school in Korea.
12. Rarely have free time. A lot of kpop people say that they would come home from school at like 4 or 5 (school in korea ends later than in america) and then go straight to practicing until 9 or 10, almost every day.
13. I'm not sure why you are considering the possibility that you'd get gifts since you haven't been accepted yet, but of course you should take it.
14. ditto to 13.
15. avoid papparazi, and can never publicly date. never, or else your fans or the girl's fans would want to rip you guys apart and seriously kill you. there are kpop singers who have been threatened. but once again, let's not get ahead of yourselves, you haven't been accepted yet.
additional note: i don't mean to be rude, but honest.
also, do you speak korean? they expect you to speak and (sometimes)read basic korean during auditions, and it'd be way better if you were fluent, though you'd do that at practices in korea.
1) Nope. You can be any asian. Oriental asians are preferred, however, SM has recently stated in their global auditions that they would welcome "all ethnicity and nationality" so you might still stand a chance.
2) Since you're asking for minor entertainments, it would be DSP Media, Good Entertainment, Trifecta Entertainment, Cube Entertainment, Star Empire Entertainment etc. The major ones would be YG Entertainment, JYP Entertainment and SM Entertainment. It's more recommended that you try out for YG and JYP instead of SM since there's many bad rumours going on about SM mistreating their artists but I'm not one to talk since I'm thinking of going for SM Auditions. =P
Also, YG and JYP are more after talent than looks as compared to SM.
3) Nope. You can always wear braces to get straight teeth during your trainee period and whiten your teeth. Trainee life is tough so you would probably lose weight so it's okay.
4) Well, it could help your career since you're fluent in English before training. Since non-Korean speakers will be taught Korean before debut, you will be fluent in 2 languages AFTER debut. In a way, it helps in your career.
5) It depends on the company's decision. You have no say.
6) Yep! Any age between 12-18 is a good age. Though it IS possible to be accepted in your 20s if you're really talented.
7) Most companies have an e-mail audition in which you send them audition clips of you singing/ dancing with your personal information. If they're interested in you, they may ask you for more clips or they might arrange for a face-to face audition with you. You could also sign up for SM's Global audition through their website, or for their weekly auditions in Korea or LA
8) Nope. They can be your friend too. For example, IU from LOEN Entertainment is a friend of Suzy (Miss A) from JYP Entertainment. Eunhyuk of SuperJunior is a long time friend of Junsu of JYJ.
9) Depends on the songs chosen for you to perform.
10) You just have to make an appearance at whichever schedule you have (concert/ interview/ variety show appearance) unless you're sick.
11) They will arrange for you to attend an international school in Korea.
12) As a trainee, it depends on how well you can cope with your studies. If you're a fast learner/ have photographic memory, then you won't need to do any revision. Hence, more free time. As an idol, depends on how packed your schedules are.
13) Depends.
14) Idols are supposed to give their autographs to fans, aren't they?
15) Leave it to the manager and act as yourself. That's all.
