Here's my bikes problem: I got it in may 2012. Did the top end and rode it until a few weeks ago. Over time it's been losing compression but at a slow rate to where I didn't know it. I don't have a compression tester with me now to check it but I know it's low just by turning the engine over. And a few weeks after the top end and long story short it locked up because of no coolant. Simple mistake and that was a one time deal. So how come its losing compression? I thought top ends last about 2 years? I rode it roughly 7 hours a week all summer. Is it time for a new one?

If you locked it up because of low coolant, that is your problem.
Partially seizing an engine can put a 1000 hours of wear on it in a matter of seconds. You are going to need another top end rebuild.
No coolant means the cylinder, head, piston and rings reached their melting temps - red hot. As the components kept moving, the engine oils effectiveness became useless (most synthetics can't even stand up to those temps), the metal parts in your engine expanded, warped and partially fused to each other.
I know you already new the answer to your question, you just wanted to hear it from someone else.
The simple mistake is done far too often. The coolant level is filled, the cap put on and not checked for the drop of coolant level as the thermostat opens to release the air pocket held under the thermostat.
I have to agree with John R.
Unfortunately I have a troll who always gives me a negative vote but he hasn't the IQ or experience to give you any advise at all himself, it always happens, it worries me -- NOT. I'm here to give advise, not to worry about votes.
