So we realized our baby was LI and have had him on soy formula for almost 4 months, hes doing great. Our Ped. told us that around 6 months we could introduce small quantities of food, blah blah blah. My question is, could he get really ill from ingesting a smidgen of ice cream, or a bit of cream cheese. Im talking like a REALLY small bit of it. Our ped said it should be fine but im not so sure. anyone else go through this, im so worried and his dad is going nutz because he wants to feed him EVERYTHING now. lol

My baby is LI, and he has been on Similac Sensitive (lactose free but not soy) and has been doing great- I have read that most babies outgrow their milk sensitivities. Just give him a small amount of one kind and wait a week before starting anything else to look for any reactions.
I would have him tested for dairy ALLERGIES first, especially before trying to introduce any other kind of food. So many foods have dairy in them. My friend thought her daughter was just LI and she kept getting diarrhea and found out she is actually allergic. She can't even have milk chocolate. Any tiny bit of dairy makes her sick.
I was LI as a child and I grew out of it completely by the time I was in high school.
I dont think it would be a problem....my kids coudn't have the milk based formulas either , but at age 1 we started giving them whole milk and now they are fine with it.we gave them ice cream and yogurt, etc before they were one.....ask your doctor if it is a long term thing or if he will be fine when he is old enough to stop formula....
I think it's better to start with more gentle foods. I understand though, my husband wants to let our 2 month old taste everything. I think it's a daddy thing.
It depends on the child, some it doesn't bother and others can't tolerate anything, the only way for you to find out is to try it.
