Not really a problem, but I just got a new laptop and I obviously need to have internet there. I do not know anything about computers and all that comes with it, in short I am technologically challenged. So, I heard something about needing a router or a broadband or something. Any suggestions to what I need? I want it to be the least expensive option. (We have a computer and internet at home, so can I just get something that can give internet to both my computer and laptop? And if its possible, when I leave the house can I still get internet everywhere?)

If you need to connect more than one device to your existing internet connection, the cheapest option would be a router (otherwise, you'd have to plug directly into your modem, which is what I assume you do with your current desktop computer). They range in price anywhere from $30 to $120... and there's really no need to go with the most expensive model if all you're doing is surfing the web, checking email, etc.
Linksys has always been a good brand for me, and has some affordable lower-end and mid-range models. If your laptop's got built-in WiFi (most do anymore), I'd go with a wireless router so that you can use your laptop online anywhere in the house.
This is the model I currently use for my wireless:

And no, you cannot get internet access everywhere. The laptop has to have an access point to connect to... if no one is broadcasting an access point, there's no internet connection, simple as that. Additionally, sometimes people password protect their wireless connection points so that no one else can use them, even if their computer can see that the network exists. In order to connect on the go, you'd need to be in range of a wireless access point that is either open to the public (for example, a lot of coffee shops offer free WiFi) or that you have the password to.
How do you connect to the internet at home? Check your computer for a similar port as your home computer and just get another connecting cord to plug into your internet box and your laptop.
If you want to set up your own wireless connection you'll need a wireless router that should cost between 50 and 100 dollars.
Your laptop should have a wireless built in, most do so when you go to a hot spot you'll be able to use it following their rules of course.
To get internet anywhere you are looking at a Wifi or Air card from a cell phone provider but this has a monthly cost like a cell phone if you are looking to just set up internet in your home your cable provider may have wireless internet and you would rent the router/ modem from them
you need a router that you can buy from most electronic stores and financially speaking most of them are about $50-$75 but it is worth it because you can hook up all wifi devices without much problem but im sorry to say there is a limit of how far you can go without getting disconnected. i recommend buying it from best buy. (if any are around) and if you already have a router your laptop should have a wireless devices built in it so you can either use an ether net cable and connect it wired or use your laptop settings and connect it to your router and use it anywhere in your house! hope this helped.
Well you can't get Internet everywhere. However, since you already have a home computer and a router just go to the thingies at the bottom right. One of them should tell you if you're connected, click on it and say connect to a network and find your server name. Try to connect to it, if it doesn't work tell your computer to go eat it's pants, throw a watermelon at it and kill it with a hammer and throw it out your highest window.
