It depends on your local laws.most times, their is no set db number. it is left up to the judgement of the policeman on what constitutes disturbing the peace.

It's not the decibel level that matters. It's simply if a police officer can hear it, at all, above a certain distance away. The distance varies from state to state. Sometimes as little as 50 feet. It's complete bull#$%& and cops mainly use it for an excuse to pull you over and inspect for a more serious infraction (DUI, narcotics, suspended license, warrants, etc).

Recently FL (and several other states) have lifted this law. Citizens argued that MANY motorcycles could be heard from a 1/2 mile away. It also impedes on their right to free speech. Whether you agree or disagree....I'm just stating what has recently happened here in FL (about two months ago).

There is no exact amount. If a cop feels like pulling you over for just bumpin the carp out of ir system in the middle of the day he can. At night u should really turn it down if u pass a cop though
