Most people who breed geckos keep them in plastic drawers like this one, but if you want to see your gecko you should get a terrarium or aquarium. One gecko can live in a 10 gallon tank. They do not need an over head lamp, as they are nocturnal critters, but they do need an under tank heating pad. Here is a labeled picture of my gecko's habitat...hopefully this will help you understand what they need!

Leopard geckos do not require any special lighting, they are nocturnal. The enclosure can be as simple or elaborate as you want. I personally keep mine in a 28qt Sterilite bin with 1ft of 4" flexwatt heat tape for heat (running through a thermostat of course). I use newspaper as the substrate and have a water bowl in there at all times. That's it. Of course the bin has air holes melted/drilled in the sides of the tub.
If you want a prettier but definitely more expensive enclosure you can get an aquarium (20 gallons is big enough for an adult) and give it live or fake plants as decorations. I always recommend an under tank heating pad or flexwatt heat tape (you need a thermostat with this) over a heat lamp, because lamps are hard to control the heat with and they severely dry the enclosure out. Good luck.
Leopard geckos do not require any UV light or heat lamp. For heat they are much better with heat tape, heat mats etc. All but one of my geckos are also in similar cages as hers. To get the best leopard gecko care, go to this page for a care sheet, and look through the lizard section, that site has a lot of good threads on leopard geckos http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/lizard-care-sheets/...
i have a leopard gecko and she has a heating pad underneath the glass of our tank. if you put it under a half- log or something, they really like it, they dont require uv lighting, theyre nocturnel and it will just bug them. trust me heating pads work best, even when its cold in the room
perfect now at petco the toddlers are 27.00 and the adults ar seventy 9.00. Order offline. much greater affordable and you pass the middle guy. I dont reccomend the toddlers from petco.
