I uh..hope I spelled that right. Anyway, let's say, I'm 17 (which I am), and that I'm an atheist (which I am). Now let's get fictional and say I never believed in any God or deity, or Jesus or any storybook. Now: I'm 17, and have been atheist all my life.- But not for lack of wanting to believe in God or Jesus. (We'll assume Biblegod and his wedlock, Jewish zombie son are the only other alternatives). Let's say the reason is, is that I've been waiting for a sign. Some sort of devine intervention in my life. Something noticable that couldn't had possibly ben done by any man or act of nature, something that Jesus was doing to make me believe. But I've seen nothing, felt nothing, and in lack of the apparent existance of Jesus, I remain atheist until fruther notice. Will I go to hell?
For that matter, isn't that the plight of EVERY atheist? Surely no atheist who 'felt' the presence or existance of Jesus or biblegod would continue to be atheist. Why do we go to hell, if we are WAITING?
Update:To the first answerer.- I'm sorry to tell you this. Whether you believe in God or not, you WILL die. EVERYONE will die. I'm sorry.
Update 3:DC- At what point did I say God didn't exist?
:)
My question, was, in that fictional situation, would I be going to hell. DOn't put words in my mouth.
Update 5:I'm glad you think so too inspector.
Honestly I was an atheist, at, what 6th grade? Yeah...Yeah I think puberty has something to do with growing common sense.
Update 7:Eric S- No, the situation is fictional. FICTIONAL PEOPLE. I am not waiting for a sign, I am fairly happy with my current position in exessive arogance and ability to laugh at the people around me for believing the unbelievable. I'm an atheist to stay, my friend.
Update 9:Agellius: I'm sorry if I offended. Typing "Judeo-Christian God" was just less attractive. And I thank you for being respectful in return.

You are only 17, so I don't expect you to actually think about this question, but here goes.
Why do you think the opposite of atheism is Christianity or the belief in the God of the Bible?
You also CLEARLY said that you will not be anything but an atheist until the existence of "Jesus" is proven. So you are saying that the opposite of atheism is a belief in Jesus as God. What you really are is close-minded and unwilling to look at knowledge objectively.
Don't try to debate with intelligence. You will always lose.
She could desire to provide you the choice to abort the being pregnant.... on her dime or that of a charitable corporation, not the taxpayer. If she's have been given strolling around sense, she'll ask for the morning after pill as quickly as she's been examined with the aid of a physician to collect a rape kit. Then she would be in a position to not could desire to subject approximately having to evaluate or fund an abortion.
I once asked a preacher what happens to people born in non-Christian countries who are never presented Christianity in a way that makes it appealing. He told me that theyll go to hell. The same applied to children in those same areas who die before converting.
Supposedly God will give everyone at least one chance to go to him. If you miss it that could be it.
I guess it would be much the same for you (and me). If you buy that (official word of the Southern Baptist Convention) then youve either missed your chance, or not been called yet. Seems horribly cold hearted to me-that answer helped put me on the path to atheism and to dropping out of seminary. Ive since called and thanked the preacher-he wasnt happy about it.

Give him some credit people, he's 17. He'll grow, probably learn about other religions, learn more about atheism, etc.
To the asker: You may want to look into agnosticism though, it sounds more up your alley than atheism.
First of all, why do you have to phrase your question in such an offensive way? Biblegod? Jewish zombie? That's disrespectful, don't you think? But, resisting the temptation to be disrespectful in return, I'll take a shot at answering you.
It's not necessarily true that you go to hell for being an atheist. There is such a thing as "invincible ignorance", meaning that through no fault of your own, you are unable to believe or put your faith in God. The catch, though, is that you can't just decide for yourself that you're invincibly ignorant. The only one who knows for sure is God himself.
There are many possible causes for your ignorance (i.e. failure to believe), some of which might be your own fault, for example pride -- the unwillingness to submit your will to God's; or cowardice, the unwillingness to do something difficult like giving up sinful activities that you enjoy, or to face your atheist friends and admit that you believe in God after all. I'm not saying you're guilty of either pride or cowardice, but these are possible reasons for unbelief, for which you would be held accountable, because maybe you could have believed if only you had been willing to squelch your pride or face up to your fears.
See, God made you, and you owe him your life. If you're not willing to hand it over to him, he'll let you keep it, sure, but he won't be a part of it. And life without him -- completely without him, and no hope of returning to him -- is hell.
As far as "feeling" him, unfortunately, you don't get to make up the rules that God follows. You don't get to decide what God has to do in order to win you over, as if you're a woman playing hard to get. God made things to work the way they do, for reasons which no one but himself could fully comprehend, and which he is under no obligation to explain to us. Maybe he doesn't want things to be easy. There are times when I don't want my kids to take the easy way, because in the long run the hard way is going to be better for them. You're in no position to decide whether God should make things easy or hard for you, any more than my kids are in a position to tell me what rules I should make for them, or what punishments they will suffer if they disobey.
As an atheist i think you are making a big mistake in how you understand religion and being non religious.
You say you are waiting for "a sign" and i must warn you that christians think of this as a sort of emotional phonomenon.
Whether or not you have an emotional experience with yourself are you gonna assume it was jesus? I sure hope not, because such an experience would prove that you are capable of reflection and it has nothing to do with whether or not Zeus, Jesus, or Muhammed is more than just a fairy tale.
peace bro and i hope that you stay strong as an atheist and not believe in these caveman religions.
U say U will go to hell coz U dotn belive in GOD..soo that mean U r not atheist ...U somewhere therez GOD..dutn ya...
well I used to think soo too,...but I dotn think jesus is god ...there are N number preachers who came on earht to show humans a way of live...I feel he is one among them..n anwayz evyer religion teaches humanity...I just think there shud be soem force that makes us live the way we do..and makes things do the way we do....just be a nice person and do good deeds...and perhaps if there soemthign called heaven ull get entry...
Jesus does explain that he speaks in parables to confuse people so they will not be saved. Maybe he just wants to send people to hell.
DC, evolution gave him more intellect though.
and I bet the reason you picked Christianity for this in the first place is because you are in a prominently christian place. Maybe America?
Of course we all die, that's a given fact due to mortality. But did you know there is also a “Second Death”?
All humans are born with a "tripartite state" consisting of spirit (pneuma), soul (psyche [the mind]), and body (soma). It is called the "Tripartite Attributes of Human Wholeness". The spirit in you is “another being” with his own cognitive awareness; this is the REAL YOU. This spirit is immortal, and preexisted “before” the creation of the Universe.
When we come into this world our spirit is severed (detached) from the other two lesser attributes. This is due to the fallen state of reality (Universe); which is in a state of degeneration since its inception caused by a primordial event called the "Heavenly Rebellion", which defiled a former universe (called by quantum physicists, “Paradise Lost”) and transformed it into the current universe (“Trans-Universal Superstructure” [TUS]).
So we are all born in a "degenerated state". We cannot enter into our "wholeness" until our spirit is reunited with the other two lesser attributes of the Tripartite Attributes of Human Wholeness. This "reuniting" can only occur when we go through the "Rebirth" through Christ Jesus, for He was established by God as the "Door", "Antidote", and "Plan" to reconcile this dilemma of the defiled TUS.
If we die, we will die a "physical death", but our spirits do not die, they are "eternal". Upon death your spirit is transported to a "Trans-Dimensional Reality" designed by God to hold your spirit in reserve, and that realm (Heaven or Hell [Trans-Dimensions]) will be based upon and according to how you lived and whether you had accepted the "Reconcilement Plan (Jesus)".
But this is not the end. There is the "Second Death". All spirits (dead people not in Christ) that did not accept Christ as the Redeemer and His Redemptive Deed upon the Cross of Calvary will be given a second chance to proclaim Jesus' Deity at the Great White Throne Judgment of God. If they choose not to do this, then their eternal spirits will be destroyed, permanently, and every trace and memory of their existence erased, permanently.
After death we are given the realization that in spirit form “before” our incarnation (birth) into flesh and “before” arriving to Earth that WE were with God in the former “Paradise Universe” before Time and before the current TUS. Furthermore, we are given the knowledge that WE were “conspirers” and “accomplices” in the Great Heavenly Rebellion, having turned against the Triune Godhead (Father God, the Pre-Incarnate Son of God, and the Holy Spirit) and WE had collaborated with “Another” (the entity Lucifer/Satan) in that great defilement that corrupted the Paradise Universe and transformed it into the current TUS. Hence, our experience on Earth is for us to ultimately choose whom shall we serve, the One True God as WE did before, or “Another” (the Evil One), who tore us away from God. So the “Word” (Pre-Incarnate Jesus) made flesh (Incarnate Jesus) was God’s Plan to provide a “Door” for “Rebirth”, reconciling us back to Father God through His Son, Christ Jesus… this is when WE become “Born-Again”, entering into the fullness of the Tripartite Attributes of Human Wholeness where God can then "repair" us, "heal" us and "rewire" us, arightly.
So by accepting Christ your spirit is reconjoined with the other 2 attributes of soul and body, allowing collaboration with the Holy Spirit and access to God and Christ; only in this way will the "experiential" reality of the Supernatural God enter into your life. There is no other way. And, this is why atheists do not believe in God, because they cannot access this Reality due to their severed spirit and disjointed Tripartite Attributes.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Waiting for what exactly? If Jesus appeared to you tomorrow and allowed you to touch his wounds (as he did with Thomas), I think you'd pass it off as a trick. If you are lukewarm I will spit you out, says the Lord. If you have heard the word of G-d and deny it still, you are lost. if you hear it, think it's uncool to go to Church because of what your buds will think, yet still behave with love and generosity for others, there's hope.
