I just bought these headphones, they are said to be Dolby 7.1 surround sound capable.
I have a hard time enjoying this pair of headphones, because the only difference I get from switching between 7.1 and 2 channel is that 7.1 has a little more echo. That's it. And the sound quality is drastically reduced when I switch to 7.1. I don't feel like listening to stereo AT ALL. I watched a couple of youtube videos, and find that 7.1 sounds no more stereo than 2 channel, in fact 2 channel gave me more "3d" feel by completely separating the sounds from left and right ear, 7.1 sort of mixes everything and it just sounds muddy.
Is this supposed to happen? Have I not installed anything correctly? Is there a reason for it to be this way? Or is it just a shitty headphone and not actually dolby 7.1?
I only bought these for the 7.1 they advertised, I own a pair of Westone 4, and they smash these headphones to pieces if I compare the sound quality.
I tried playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 with these headphones, I can't tell where the enemy is firing from when I switch on 7.1, it's just a friggin mess, but I can tell the direction as usual when I switch off 7.1 back to 2 channels, which renders this headphone pointless since I have my Westone 4, which is immensely better.

in order to enjoy surround sound or 7.1 sound you need to first use content that include 7.1 surround sound .
youtube does not have a real support for 7.1 channels.
so basically your headphones take the 2 channels which is also called stereo sound and brake it to 7.1 channels .
take a dvd or blue ray movie that was included as 7.1 and try it again .
the change will be very noticeable .
