Two weeks ago I had a frenectomy on my lower lip; I also had a gum graft on my two front lower teeth. In the beginning of my recovery it was extremely hard to talk/smile/laugh - it hurt really badly to do all of the above. Now two weeks later, I can do all of those things with no pain....but I've noticed something different about my smile. My natural smile does not look the same as it used to - my top teeth barely show at all - it looks like I'm smiling purposefully without my teeth. When I used to smile naturally, all of my top teeth showed and a little tiny bit of my bottom teeth. I'm pretty positive I'm just freaking myself out and hoping that my mouth just needs to be stretched out since I went about a week without really moving it after surgery. However, I'm wondering if anyone has had a lower frenectomy/gum graft with the same after effects...and what your outcome was? I'm terrified that I'm not going to get my smile back!! :/ Thanks!!

Give a big smile and relax. Things will work out just fine.
Gum graft won't have any effect on smile.
Frenectomy can have some effect on the smile but you will have to wait and watch if it really does. The muscles required in smiling are more powerful than just your lower lip. Don't worry.
