So both are now the same price. The 2012 Regular macbook has a i7 dual-core cpu 2.9GHZ with 3.6GHZ turbo, while the retina has an i5 dual core 2.5GHZ with 3.1GHZ turbo. Both have 3rd gen intel cpu, Intel HD4000 graphics and 8GB 1600mhz DDR3 Ram BUT the regular macbook has 750GB 5200rpm harddrive while the Retina has a 128GB SSD drive. The retina doesn't have a disk drive but a higher res. And the regular macbook does have a disk drive. So which is better? In terms, which one will last longer in terms of hardware and software upgrades? Will the i5 and SSD equal out the speed of the i7 model? I'm afraid 128GB is a little bit for my needs, as i'll be doing alot of documents and editing videos. SO what do you guys recommend? BTW, NO PC as I'm sticking to audio/video productivity and school work. THANKS!

Get the retina with an i7. If you're going to pay the Mac Tax, go all out.
Seriously, no PC? Dude my 1000 dollar PC outpreforms the macpro. But if you really want one go all out and get the retina. The screen is amazing. For a mac desktop go to this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwaW6HR9dw4&list=UU... Watch the 5 videos. It runs OSX (apple os) and has the same specs as the 6600 dollar MacPro for 2500.
