I am looking to replace my 2007 macbook (white, not unibody) 1gb ram, 70gb hhd. Intel core duo.
My options are:
MacBook Pro - $1,699
13 inch. 2.7
4 gb ram (In the near future if I need it, i can update it to 8)
128gb SSD (I have an external HDD)
or
Macbook Air
13 inch 1.86 Intel core 2
Duo Processor
128gb flash storage
4gb ram
or
The new Macbook air which is rumored to come sooner
Lets just say the the CPU is in the 2.0 range
and SSD is double
What would you get?
Here is what I need it for:
Im currently going into 11th grade. I need a computer for school work ppts, essays so on. Which i know both can do...well.
I also am graphic designer I make logos and signs here and there when asked. I dont render a lot nor do i make movies. But i would use sketchbook pro. photoshop type programs.
When I go to college, my dream is to go into graphic design
Once in college I will be buying a fully loaded iMac (which I have money for now, but want a laptop for school). So by college, I will a workhorse at home, and a good portable computer that can do basic needs.
PLEASE HELP

I will strongly recommend you Apple MacBook Pro MC700LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop. The new i5 processor upgrade, 4gb of ram and other design elements such as the large multitouch trackpad and the backlit keyboard make this a great machine to use daily. The graphics are so clear, it is so fast and so light weight. While buying Macbook air you have to sacrifice memory as it has less hard drive

It'd be kind of crazy and dumb if you purchase a macbook air..especially for college. The pro is A HELL OF FASTER and much better at processing graphics than an air. Think of an air as a netbook on steroids..who wants that? Come on, they still use the old Core 2 Duo processors, they don't even have a CD slot. What if you need to install a program through a disk...you'll be bummed because you can't if you get an air. What's more important to you? Portability (air) or Power (Mac) The air just looks pretty....yippy. so does the pro, so get the pro.
This MacBook Pro MC721LL/A 15.4 is an AWESOME laptop. I had an Asus G50vt before I switched to mac and I am very happy I did. It loads up EXTREMELY fast and the interface is easy to use and navigate. I love everything about it. The battery life is amazing!!!! Unplugged it runs for 8-9 hours without being recharged or anything. I am a college student so that is perfect for me. I just whip it out in the morning pack it into my backpack and go. I don't have to worry about the charger or anything. My only regret, is that I didn't switch to Macs earlier. Fast start up, fast processor, LONNNNGGGGGGGG battery Life (just for emphasis) and beautiful design. Truly amazing.
Apple MacBook Pro MC723LL/A is an excellent laptop computer. Extremely fast and easy to set up. Apple definitely has the user in mind with MacBook Pro. I would highly recommend this computer to anyone interested in purchasing a high quality laptop
Macbook Pro. The only thing really good about Macbook Air is that is is super thin, so it has a lot less memory. Macbook Pro is overall better, that's why it's more expensive.
I'd go with the pro. I was having the same dilemma, and I chose pro. I'm quite satisfied with my decision. It's worth the little extra money for the features, battery life, etc.
