Hey. Im gonna buy a Macbook Pro (the cheapest one) and I was wondering if I should get one with a harddrive with 5400/7200 Rounds Per Minute.
I'm aware that it will be faster with higher rounds. But is it worth it? Worth the extra cost, that is.
Thanks!!

Yes, it will make anything the uses your hard drive a lot faster. A lot depends on what you are using it for. If you use your hard drive a lot for applications like film editing, graphics, pictures or mixing that are dense, you will find a noticeable difference using the 7200 If your main uses are surfing the web, running simple applications like Office Suites, you really don't need it.
The Mac already has a Sata hard drive that is pretty fast. Ideally, if you can put it in the 7200 without having to pay to remove the drive the Mac comes with and only pay for the difference in HD price between the two, I would do it regardless.
On a different note:
When buying a Mac, you will require less RAM to run applications . But a word of caution, if you want more RAM, you will save a lot of money buying more when you buy your computer (up front) instead of after the fact.
You will really love your Mac-and have made a wonder decision-welcome
I'm a former lifetime PC user since the Dos days and because of my frustrations with Vista after SP1 was released, I returned 3 Laptops and purchased a Mac. I have bootcamp also running my XP and have the best of both worlds. I really love iLife that comes with it. The software is slick
If you buy your laptop and are a student, Apple will in addition to giving you a student discount of $200, Aple will also give you a free iPod, ITouch ($299 Value). I hope you will be able to take advantage of this and hope this help you.
It is worth it. Your computer will run much faster with 7200 rpm.
You won't notice the difference.
