I'm a college student who currently owns a PowerBook G4 and was interested in getting a new Mac laptop. My PowerBook worked great and what I am looking for is versatility and mobility (weight/size). Which is a better laptop MacBook or MacBook Pro and is it worth it? Please help this college student.

the MacBook Pro uses the more advanced, faster Santa Rosa chipset
Both MacBook and MacBook Pro can operate in extended desktop mode
Any model of Apple portable can be customized through the Apple Store to include a larger capacity or faster hard drive (up to 200 GB at 4,200rpm for both the MacBook Pro and the MacBook and 160 GB at 7,200rpm for the MacBook Pro) at an extra cost.
The MacBook has a poor graphics card.
The MacBook Pro uses a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT which can handle virtually all modern games with ease. In games
The casing of the MacBook is said to be more durable than that of the MacBook Pro due to it being a lot thicker.
It would depend on what your needs are...
If you need a 15" screen, or the better graphics card MBP
If you need a smaller, lightweight, more durable (plastics harder to dent) then go MB.
I have a 12" iBook; and I love it. Much easier to carry around; and since I have a tower @home I don't need the large screen. Its $400 or so more expensive, but you could get a MB and an iMac 20".
Talk to your local apple store, and they can help you through the decision making process. Failing a local apple store, many Best Buys or CompUSAs have apple reps you can talk to.
Failing that, 1800-myapple is the phone store, and they might be able to help a bit.
And FYI: STUDENT DISCOUNTS! Bring that Student ID to the Store (or buy online from the education store) Discount ranged from $50 to 200 depending on which computer it is.
i thing the macbook pro is better if u wanted somehting better altogether but its not better by much but it does weigh less and is a little smaller
