Compatibility is the issue here. Apple has sold proprietary and incompatible BS for the last 18 years. Why do you think people end up installing Windows on their new Mac? Windows dominates the software market. Programmers do NOT write software for Macs simply because 95 out of every 100 computers sold daily ARE PCs. Software designers are out to make money. You don't make money writing software for the 5% of Mac users.
If I wanted a system that will run 24/7 365 days a year with out constantly fixing or repairing issues or having a vast amount of down time I would choose the Macintosh. If I wanted to install millions of different kinds of software and heavily into gaming I would choose the Windows PC. If I wanted the ability to swap out hardware I would choose a Windows PC. If I wanted to customize a computer, one again it would be a Windows PC. If i was seriously into Video, Audio and Graphics Production it would be the MAC simples because the software is written to specifically work with the hard ware installed and not hundreds of different computer configurations. I won't even debate which one is better. What you choose to do really determines which one you would choose. MACs are more expensive because they are considered an investiment more than anything else.
