I just bought bought a turntable that has male phono cables sticking out the back. there are no other ways for sound to be hooked up to the turntable. I have speakers that take wires. I want to know if there is a way to convert my male phonos to wires or something to buy. OR, do i have to buy different speakers that accept the phono male cable. I dont want to have to hook up to a receiver. I do have a an old sub woofer that has the phono in outlets and i can use that but all i wanted was to use two bookend speakers, its for an office.

The thing is, you DO have to get a receiver or amplifier. There's no way to just connect an audio source to a set of speakers and have them play. If you don't know much of what goes on in music reproduction, here's the jist of it.
The signal from an audio source (iPod, CD player, radio tuner, or in this case a turntable) is what's called low-level or line-level, meaning it only carries an audio signal and not any power or amplification. The reason you need a receiver (or integrated amplifier, but we'll keep it simple) is to properly amplify the sound so that it can be played through the speakers. And in the case of a turntable, the receiver will also need to have a dedicated phono input, because they need a special preamp/equalization circuit.
i think you need to connect the tt to an amplifier
