I'm 16 and a junior in high school. I've always been interested in the military and I've decided that after high school I'm going to join. I've always liked the idea of the marines being the toughest to get into and i always like to challenge myself. I have family that are marines and i've always thought the marines sounded a lot more exciting then the desk jobs the other branches give you. But i only plan on doing around 4 years or what ever the minimum is. Then get a civilian job. Thats when i started to think about the Air Force because you can easily go into a high paying civilian job after your enlistment like an air traffic controller or a pilot ect. I was also thinking about pararescue in the airforce because they give you medical training that will easily transition into a civilian job such as life flight, EMT ect. But i don't want to end up as a washout and get stuck behind a desk for the rest of my enlistment. So basically what I'm asking is, is there a job in the marines that will give me good training and education that will easily transition into a civilian job and overall what would be the best decision, experience wise and education wise so i can easily find a good paying job after enlistment from what i was taught in what ever branch

If you can go for it go Pararescue. They are AF Special Forces and rescue downed pilots Anytime Anywhere. The Marines are infantry men. Nothing more and nothing less. Bc, PJs have such a high risk, and physically demanding job the selective process and "bootcamp" is very hard and demanding, more so than the marines.
If you only plan to serve 4 yrs I would recommend going into the Corps.
And if you have your heart set on going into the Marines, then yes, there are several jobs besides infantry in the marine corps. But if the Marines needs another rifleman on the field they can and will call you up to fight, whether you are working on helicopters or not.
Anytime Anywhere

your NOT gonna find a " good paying " job after 4 years in the military
ex military ATC's have no jobs, because the FAA doesn't hire them -- you cannot be a pilot if you enlist
for pararescue, your looking at a 90% washout rate -- so unless your the top dog stud athlete at your school already - you have no chance
2. thats why there is the GI Bill -- to let you go to college after the service, to get the education, so you can get a job
3. heck you wanna be a emt -- then go take a emt course, they only take approx two weeks to finish
then you to can make $11.00 a hour as a EMT
Ahhahaha . You wanna do the minimum . The military isn't for you.
First of all you have to be in the Air Force for atleast 2 years before your even considered for para rescue . It's a tough job to get. SECOND the marine corps is getting harder and harder to join and they aren't looking for people who want to do the minimum .
First off, there is a nine week course just to prove you have what it takes to train to be a PJ. Then if you survive that, the training to become a PJ is 2 years long.
4 years total service ain't gonna cut it.
if u don't make it to pararescue, they discharge u most likely now in days...marines,they will keep u if u don't make their special ops and reclass u into some mos u don't want for the next 4 yrs.
Can you even meet the requirements to enlist in the Marines?
Kid, stick with the Marines!
