Does the company allow you to use knives? If not then how do you cut the fresh fruits for the fruit salads? Their website states all fruits are prepared daily.
McDonalds has always been stingy with sharp things - and for good reason, really. The one I worked at used a single paring knife, which was made available only to those who needed it.
Then again, the only fruit I have experience with was the limes from the Southwest salad. The mandarin oranges on the Asian salads are canned by Del Monte. The salads are assembled fresh daily, though...
Also: the Fruit & Walnut salads - pre-cut (though I believe most places have switched to only the completely pre-packaged snack size). Yogurt parfait fruits come frozen.
Yes, we are allowed to use knives...but we mainly use it for cutting chicken for snack wraps and salads...the McDonalds I work at doesn't have fruit salads, but other things like lettuce and chicken for the fajitas comes pre-chopped so that we can put the things together quickly. So, I assume that the website means that the salads are ASSEMBLED daily, but not necessarily cut daily...they probably come in plastic bags, pre-cut and pre-washed.
And it's a good thing that there aren't lots of knives...one time, I saw an employee trying to fix (Or play around with) a knife that had come apart from the handle. Anyway, the blade flew out of his hand and barely missed another employee!!

bs..that fruit is frozen. no we are not allowed to use knives b/c its a safety hazard
they use a press thingy, you push down and a dull metal blade pushes through the said fruit or vegetable
