The media and popular culture more often than not will promote what engages people and what makes money.
If people doing bad things sells, or compromising your integrity sells, then it will be presented. And it appeals to base instincts, and especially to young people.
Many of these philosophies are harmful, and are on many levels. I think of cigarette smoking in the past and how it sold because it was cool, or looked cool. Or be your own person, a rebel and unique even if it harms yourself or others.
You can pick from many examples of poor decisions that are pushed today... and we are bombarded with them.
Would you agree that especially over the last 40 years, decade after decade, we have become desensitized in some measure to harmful philosophies because of a media-driven culture?

I agree. We live in a media-driven, commercial culture, where it's hard to escape the ever-increasing waves of advertising and infotainment.
