Michigan licensed contractors?
Hi I live in Michigan and I want my basement finished. The contractor states it will take 3 weeks to get the basement finished. Is it safe to leave them in the house while I am at work. The contractor states he is licensed and bonded. I checked he is licensed in Michigan, but how does that work if he damages something or something is stolen?

what kind of insurance do you have at home? do you have liability? call your insurance company and ask them! if you have state farm call your agent
No, it's not. Licensed and bonded has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with him stealing your stuff.
There's NOT automatic coverage if he damages stuff, and there's NO coverage if he steals stuff.
What you want, is called a performance bond - but it's going to cost him an arm and a leg, and you're probably not going to want to pay the extra amount for the job - if he can even GET one.
