I recently got a radar detector for my car and herd it is illegal if it "obstruction of a drivers vision" however i did some research and under 2012 Minneasota statutes
169.71 WINDSHIELD
(a) A person shall not drive or operate any motor vehicle with:
(1) a windshield cracked or discolored to an extent to limit or obstruct proper vision;
(2) any objects suspended between the driver and the windshield, other than:
(i) sun visors;
(ii) rearview mirrors;
(iii) driver feedback and safety-monitoring equipment when mounted immediately behind, slightly above, or slightly below the rearview mirror;
so because of point (iii) I have put my radar detector directly above of rear view mirror so it is resting on the mirror and "slightly above the rear view mirror"
so my question is do these 2012 statutes still apply, does my radar detector count as "driver feedback" equipment and is there any other factors or laws i am forgetting or leaving out.

Yes it does still count as driver feedback according to the laws that I found for your state.
