Let's say your friend wants to send someone a message, but they don't have the right contact information and you do (they cannot obtain the information for whatever reason, wether it's a social media they cannot sign up for or just an email you can't give out.) You've helped them format the message and it's ready to be sent. You've told them you'll send it as soon as possible. For whatever reason, you cannot send it. They really need to know that this message gets to the person, so what do you do? Tell them the truth and have them know the person will never see their message? Or lie and say you sent it (they don't expect a response and will not ask for proof) and see them happier?

If the situation was reversed, would you want someone to tell you the truth? Answer this question and you will know what to do.
Of course you tell the truth. Do you really think you should go through life telling people what they want to hear and thereby providing them with dys-information? Sure, I love to hear "You look great; you're going to wow them!" -- but I NEED to know facts like "There's spinach in your teeth and toilet paper stuck to your shoe."
i would just tell thern the truth
Maybe you can find somebody else who wouldn't mind sending the message.
In any other case, I would surely tell the truth as to why you are unable to send the message.
Just tell them you cannot send it. You are not lying to them.
