My computer won't recognize my mic?
I'm trying to plug my mic into my computer. I've plugged it into the red ports, the port with the MIC label, etc. and it refuses to work. Do I have to reseat my sound card or something? My computer speakers work fine so I don't think it's the sound card. Any ideas?
Update:I'm just trying to use Ventrilo. I've tried testing the mic just using Windows Sound Recorder, and it brings up nothing.

have u tried adjusting the volume controls? If u r on Xp right click on the volume icon and press Volume Control. Turn microphone up and unmute if it is.Click on Options then Properties for more.
What kind of software are you using to record sound?
