So I dated this girl back in the day and we broke up. shes been dating this other guy for 3 years and its had me depressed for a while. Me and this girl both live on college campus but her boyfriend doesnt. She knows i care immensely for her but she claims she doesnt feel the same way. One night she asked me to meet her and we talked about our relationship. she was crying cause she saw how unhappy i was, yet how much i would help her with her bf and other problems (shes my best friend). She told me that she doesnt care the same way as I do for her but i didnt believe her cause she then told me that she was willing to break up with her bf just to see me happy. She wanted us to take a break with hanging out so that we could get some space and figure this thing out. I didnt want her to do that so at the time i told her that I was getting over her and everything was ok. She was then relieved and said good because she didnt want us to stop having to talk to eachother. Over the next few days, i felt bad because i lied to her. I figured i had two choices. 1) Pretend I was happy but still remain a interference in her relationship with her bf or 2) tell her everything that was on my mind for the past 3 years and then let her live disturbance free with her bf (cause i figured thats probably what she wanted considering the break she proposed to me earlier). So one night I called her over and we met up and I read a letter that I wrote to her earlier that night ( i wanted to make sure i didnt leave anything out so i wrote it down so i wouldnt forget). I told her everything and how I was gonna let her and her bf live in peace and without me always being a disturbance. She cried about it but she didnt argue with me over it. The reason i wanted to entirely break things of is because we tried to half *** it before by trying to see eachother " every once in a while" which then turned into all the time. So far its been going for a while without any problems. I was feeling bad about this for a while so I guess my question is did I do the right thing? would you guys have done it any different?
