A very interesting question, Napoleon hero or enemy, I suppose it depends on what country you are from. Napoleon was not an oppressive tyrant, in the same way that Adolf Hitler was. What Napoleon was an extremely aggressive and ambition man who saw his chance to change the balance of power in Europe and return France to it's greatness and of course in return elevate himself as not only Frances emperor but i believe all of Europe. I can honestly say that i do not know any people from France in back up my opinion but I think the french people look at napoleon with much more nostalgia and pride in their country.
After all though out the course of human event. though out human history . When ever there in oppressive leadership
IE: in this case the Bourbon monarchy of France. Their usually is a period of anarchy a back lash to the oppression. IE the french revolution. However when these periods happen. Their soon follows a feeling and need for security and stability. This is the void that Napoleon will fill. From this perspective Napoleon can be looked at as a savor to the people of France. But his wars of conquest across Europe were not naturally embrace by all. Of course the English are the most well know of Napoleon and we have all heard the stories of the campaign in Russia.
But during his time he was either allied with a number of countries like Spain and Prussia at First but by the time of Waterloo he and France stood alone and the Alliance of England Prussia And Russia were breathing down his neck.
He was defiantly feared by these European powers so much so that i recall hearing stories that English Children were told that if they did not behave Napoleon would eat them.
For me personally I think Napoleon is one of those forces of nature that springs up in a peoples history he was a force for the betterment of himself and his France so i do think he was good due to his personal ambition but i don't think he was evil is the same way that we would look at a Hitler.

He grew to become into easily no democrat and grew to become right into a tyrant particularly aspects. although he's enjoyed/respected for right here reasons:- i. metric gadget and decimalization ii. Emancipation of the Jews iii. Napoleonic Code iv. destroyed feudal europe and paved the way for cutting-edge u . s . a . states.
