Then I remember flying through the air, and I felt myself grind to a painful stop after a while.
Then I remember feeling blood running down my head.
Then I remember seeing I had lost a shoe on my feet.
Lots more.... But really, it's quite a boring tail.
I was ejected out of a car as it flipped. I flew out the back window, hit a bob wire fence, and lost a few moments here and there after the concussions.
I was sent home that night... I'm pretty sure this counts a NEAR death.
But I wasn't so near death, that my heart was stopped, or I was brain dead. :D
When I died (the first time) I flew around a lot seeing roof tops that I'd never seen before... then raced the signal lights from one end of town to the other a few times, then decided to go visit a friend. I woke him from a deep sleep and spoke to him. When I knew I had gotten the message across I went back to my body and woke up (choking and in pain). 3 Days later my friend stopped me on the street and asked me why I had appeared hovering near the ceiling in his apartment... and why had I told him (the exact thing I told him).
I met no gods, angels, demons, cherubs or any other imaginary religious creatures. In death I was completely free from my body and it's limitations as well as the limitations of time and space.

NDEs are just hallucinations caused by lack of oxygen in the blood.
There's nothing special about NDEs.
Well... I remember seeing the road.

1. Near death experiences are the result of a brain shutting down due to lack of oxygen.
2. We know how to induce one artificially using ketamine.
3. People mostly see what they expect to see – hence people of different religions have different experiences.
4. A few people, though, have made quite a bit of money from NDE claims.

I haven't had one yet.
