Why does it matter if there are (legal) Mexicans in LA? Why even bother mentioning it? People are people.
I've visited both. The subway is massively convenient in NYC though pricey. The subway/Metro in LA doesn't cover the territory as well, but you can get a day pass which is really nice as it's only about $5 or $6. LA=perfect temp almost always, NYC=not as much. NYC has more college students than LA (at least I think so...).
Depends on what kind of show business career I suppose. It's my understanding that you can only really be in show business in NYC if you're already established.
Both are large urban areas. Both are massively important economic and cultural US centers.
