Too young to remember...when Joe Theisman's leg was broken, did the NFL institute stricter "roughing the passer" penalties? Watching Colts/Titans last night, defenders could barely pressure Manning w/o drawing a 15 yard penalty.
Doesn't this alter the entire defensive scheme?
Are we watching a sissy-fied version of the NFL?

I remember watching the game with Theisman. They kept showing that replay over and over. It was a sick hit (legit though). As far as the roughing the passer penalties. I think that they are protecting the QBs way too much. This is football. Guys are going to get hit hard and if they cannot take it then they need to go play a non-contact sport like golf. Some of the roughing the passer calls yesterday were really pathetic.
I hope this doesn't come off as sexist, but every since women became part of the fan base and a big part, the league has been softening up. The F in NFL now stands for FLAG, or you can remove the L in flag. I think they should just go on and start putting quilts or skirts on the Quarterbacks now. Some more than others.
The nfl is becoming a smarter game. Yes it is no longer as rough and tough as it once was but with the bigger stronger players the chance for injury or death has increased. They have changed the focus to the strategy of the game as opposed to the violence. It wont change back so either adjust with it or turn it off. Either way stop whining over it.
i think the nfl needs to let the players play...the quarterbacks are on the same field as linebackers...how can u say that running backs can run through defensive players but the quarterback cant even get knocked to the ground?? i think defensive players should be allowed to knock them to the ground, but no helmet to helmet or driving them into the ground
