Hi i was thinking of getting a Valknut tattooed on my chest but i'm kind of afraid considering that i'm a law enforcement major and I don't want any potential employers thinking i'm a Neo-Nazi. The meaning behind this symbol is that during battle Vikings would have it tattooed on them or they would have the symbol on their person property so that if they were killed in action the feminine angel like spirit known as the Valkyrie would come and take the warrior's soul to Vahalla which is the Viking version of Heaven where you get to spend eternity with Odin and what not. Any way i know that a lot of people think Nordic themed body art is for the most part is racist but I have Nordic blood in me and I think it would be a cool cultural statement. I live in an Irish neighborhood and all i see is people with Celtic Cross tattoos and i don't think its fair that i can't show pride for my heritage.
What do you guys think this is the symbol i want tattooed------http://chaotic-tendencies.com/concept_art/valknut_...

If you want it that badly, get it. Explain to your future employer what it means if they wind up seeing it. It seems like an extreemly powerful tattoo and personaly I believe you should get it because of the power and meaning behind it. =]
Haven't you heard? White people aren't allowed to celebrate our cultural heritage, because it is so offensive to most non-whites. White people are descended from Norse vikings who believed in Norse gods like Odin, Thor, and Loki, but since Adolf Hitler also followed Norse mythology, so many non-whites today believe that white people who are interested in their cultural heritage are as racist and xenophobic as Adolf Hitler. Norse mythology long predates Nazi ideology. I guess I should reject the reality of night and day because Hitler also believed there was night and day. A lot of ignorant people feel threatened by white people researching their ancestry and reading history books that explain how their Germanic ancestors lived and believed. I am proud to be descended from vikings. Every other person with Germanic blood should be as well!
I think it's an amazing idea personally, but looking at it from a social point of view it may not be quite as appealing to some!!! Maybe get a more simplistic angelic symbol like big wings or something??
If you're feeling brave just go for it, I certainly wouldn't judge you! =)
Do what you think is right! If we all did what we thought was 'politically correct' because people get their panties in a twist about crap, then none of us would ever be happy. If it means a lot to you, do it. Contrary to what people nowadays think, celebrating your heritage is NOT a crime, nor should it be treated as such. I'd say get it. You only live once.
people who wear the valknut or (death knot) tend to die very horrible deaths if your not superstitious id get it
