nvidia graphics card reading as intel graphics?
I just recently received a Toshiba p50 laptop which was supposed to come with an nvidia 2GB graphics card. When i went to check the computer specs it said the graphics card in the laptop was an intel hd card. I thought that this meant that the computer did not contain the nvidia card however when i went to Best Buy and an employee showed me an asus which supposedly came with an nvidia as well, it also read as an intel card when i looked at the computer specs. My question is that is the card actually present in the computer, and the computer just isn't reading it as an nvidia card, or is the card not there at all?

Don't worry about that. Actually your laptop has dual graphics. It shows Intel when you are not playing games or not working related to the graphics and when you start playing games it will automatically switch to nvidia graphics. I hope u get our answer.
Nvidia supports graphics switching. In order to save power, the card that uses the least amount of power will be active until more graphics power is needed. In your case, that would be the Intel HD graphics included on your processor.
But when you run a game or plug in an external monitor, it will register the graphics card and kick it on. Try checking the computer specs again with an external monitor plugged in.
However, note that the graphics card eats up a lot of power, so your battery life won't be very good when you're playing games that use the graphics card. That is the primary reason why Nvidia does graphics switching.

Some laptops come with what is known as hybrid graphics cards. They have two card. A low-powered one built-in to the CPU or chipset for regular web browsing and the like and a high-power card for when you run games and such. Try running a program like GPU-Z to see what video cards are installed in your laptop.
