America has been ready for a Black President for years, the problem is that no one electable has stepped up. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson were too left, and possibly crooked. Alan Keyes was far to right and scared even some conservatives. Colin Powell would have made a good run of it, so would Condi Rice. If Obama runs, he should do pretty well..he won't get MY vote, but he should do well.
nope, just want to vote someone who is competent for the job.
I couldnt give a rats behind about thier damned skin. What issues do they want to push? Do they have sollutions spelled out? Does that person have a hair of integrity?
Its vastly apparent we should elect someone that has no powerful connections already. The tricky part is determining this overlayed thier proof of merit and dynamic that everyone or a vast majority agrees upon. I think its that simple. I hate this.
For some reason Im angry that its even an issue. So pretentious and narciscistic and weak in clarity of cognivity. So vile and vain. Disgusting. But all all the same, it is a most unfortunately valid question you ask. Of course we are. ok? now please shut up and go back to masturbating to some cross racial porn.
I think Obama will win a self-loathing white vote before he even opens his mouth. There are blacks that dont like him already. I havent decided. I havent payed attention much yet.
sure America is ready, but for all the wrong reasons. Reason itself not attending.
Colin Powell, I wouldn't flinch to vote for. He resigned from the Bush regime early on for his partaking of dishonorment. For some reason however he has not decided to reemerge as of yet. Perhaps he feels he has served his country well and long enough already. Perhaps he has become utterly disillusioned with the process. I just wish he'd come back, I had a strong feeling about him.
America is too conservative to elect most Africans. Most Africans are way to the left of the average voter.
Most Africans for example are for reparations for slavery, for example. Either they are for reparations and will never get elected or they are not for reparations and blacks will howl that they are a "token."
See liberals still think the only good black is a liberal one and actually question the "blackness" of those who don't fall in line with their liberal beliefs. This happened with Rice, Powell and Thomas.
See Republicans have already promoted blacks to the most powerful positions their race has ever held, but liberals never supported them. This proves that issues matter more then race.
When Kennedy was elected nobody voted for him because he was Irish, why should we vote for someone just because they are African?
The real question is are they going to raise taxes, going to keep us safe and such.
I would vote for any one as long as he or she is liberal/progressive, and an honest public servant instead of a politician. We really need some serious change. We need public servants who actually care about the quality of life of all people, and care about what is right and truly just. And, don't put the needs of the multinational corporations ahead of the needs of the so called common people. Actually, no person is common, and no person is elite, but in this world, too many people are treated that way.
I would have been ready eight years ago if Colin Powell had run. We would not be in Iraq now. Generally, soldiers who become politicians are very reticent to get the country involved in wars.

If Condi Rice were running I'd vote for her in a heartbeat.
