In a world that tends to criticize junk food and decadence (although criticizing doesn't mean people don't secretly love it) she dismisses all notions of removing sugar and butter from food. Many of the cooks on food network do go w/current health trends and she doesn't.

Paula Deen was in her proverbial comfort zone, like many who claim not to be racist, yet undermine those of color anyway. It's the American Way. NOT! You are right, none of us should use racial slurs but it is hard to de-program or de-brainwash those who think it was alright in the first place and used it as a way to stereotype regardless if it were true or rang true of any individual. I can't get over all the comments about Paula not saying the "N" word now. That is not how it was reported. Even if she didn't say the "N" word she has many racially questionable slogans she uses all the time and has admitted to that. I too, do not wish her to be marked for a racist, especially if she is sincerely sorry for what she has done in the past or the present, but one shouldn't think that your comfort zone behavior is entirely acceptable to other people either. You always pay the price for something that is not right. You have to face it, own it, like a champion. Maybe she will. Depends on whether or not she is racist.

I think she's a great cook, you can't be upset with her because she's cooking and preparing down-home southern comfort foods. My grandmother use to cook a lot of the meals that I watch Paula prepare, and she's 'tweaked' them just enough to make it interesting. You can cut butter, and use low-fat milk or cream cheese to alter the receipes so that they are a bit healthier. That's the secret to being a great cook.

some people like southern cooking, and arent looking to make low fat or low calorie recipes. Plus she has a sweet personality/outgoing demeanor most find refreshing. True she would deep fry butter if she could. Her laugh is irritating however!

I think she has deep fried butter on her show but to answer your question.... I think a lot of people like southern food and she does have good recipes (aside from the deep fried butter). She can be funny and she does have southern charm.

I think the reason people like her is she cooks the way our or your mother or grandmother .She seems to do things old fashion and you know the "good old days" people did not worry so much about the bad things food did to your health only it tasted GREAT

its good every once in a while,like ordering a meat lovers pizza with wings..her chocolate cheese fudge and southern chicken recipes are my favorites but i couldnt imagine making them weekly
