I'm not planning to die ( if I was I wouldn't ask on yahoo, lol) I just want to know why is suicide so bad, like what is your philosophy on it? I know a person who had a near death experience and emerged from it bitter, and wanting to die again.

Suicide is like murder, but yet not the same. In Christianity it is not a sin to commit suicide, but it does go against the teachings of Jesus Christ. In the Bible it says that if you are a believer that he (God) will not put more on us then we can bear. Life is tough but there are better solutions out there then taking ones own life. All one has to do is read the book of Job in the Bible, Job had it rough. He had all his children killed, his livelihood taken away, and his friends turned their backs on him, but through it all he stayed faithful to God. For that God renewed to him every thing that he had lost and then some.
You can loose all your money, your job, your house, and all your possessions, but those things are just material things that can be acquired again. Because we have pain we know we are living. Even Donald Trump lost his fortune in the 80's now look at him. He is right back on top again.
In the end it is a personal choice, I for one would rather live a vagrant then to not live at all.
I think it's a selfish thing for someone to do as it ends the suffering of the person who kills him/herself, yet the friends & family suffer the rest of their lives = one person's actions effect many, not just himself.
In Buddhism, suicide is ill advised as suffering is an unescapable part of life. Everything changes, and what may seem a horrible situation won't stay that way forever. Also, if someone kills him/herself, they will just have to come back & learn those same lessons again.
my 2 cents
Personally, I'm on the fence. I believe that adults in their right mind should have the right to die. I do not believe that thirteen year olds who think the world is going to end because their b/f at school broke up with them should be allowed to commit suicide.
Its a sad loss, but its not our place to tell someone what to do with their life... why should we make somebody do something against their will when they're not hurting anyone but themselves?
I wonder what would happen to suicide rates if more people understood that there is no afterlife - ?
Every life is so precious to God. We all have a reason for being here in this world. God has a great plan for your life. God has created us in His image (Genesis 1:26-27). He created us for a purpose. God has a specific plan in mind for everyone. Besides, our life belongs to God. It is never our place to take our own life or someone else's life.
Just My Thoughts!
Unless one has depedent children, I think suicide is a basic human right. We don't choose to be born so, to be fair, we should be able to choose to die if we don't like the life that has been thrust upon us.
It's a waste of time and neither settles nor proves anything.
However, I'm sure the "pro-euthenasia" crowd will disagree with me.
I think that if someone's life is so horrible, they should at least TRY to make things better and if they can't, at least have the self-respect to kill yourself while doing something really cool
... like base-jumping.
I attempted it (unsuccessfully) and decided ultimately to be an atheist...I do not think it was a mistake, but just another rite of passage...
I'd say it's bad because on the devastating effects it has on your friends and family.
