They do the eyes, ears, back check, some stomach stuff, they'll check refleces, and so forth. Most doctor check down their put its not like they bring a spy kit. They just take a peek. Nothing to worry about. Good luck, I hope your health is good.
Depends on the physical. If it's a PAP, then yes, most certainly. If it's just a sports physical or something I don't believe so. They'll just check your ears, eyes, listen to your heart, listen to your lungs while you breath, take your blood pressure, maybe take a red blood cell count by pricking your finger, press on your stomach to make sure you're not having any stomach or intestinal pain, and likely ask you about your menstrual cycle. Be honest about any pain or any health problems you thiink you might have. Never worry about them being disgusted. I've seen the pictures in my friend's nursing text books. There is not a single thing you can say or do to gross these people out. They have seen and heard EVERYTHING. So if you've got some embarassing symptom like constipation, go ahead and say it, they can help you. i'm not saying you have this anxiety, but a lot of peopel do. If you are having a PAP then they do all that stuff i listed above PLUS you'll have to wear a stupid gown, lay back, put your feet in some stirrups and have the doctor take a rather detailed look at your inner workings and take a swab samble. But I have never had a doctor take a peek at my nether bits during any non-PAP physical. It's also important to note that when you do get your PAP (and if you're not now then you will eventually, I first went when I was 18) if you have a male doctor, you have the right to request that a parent or, when you're an adult, a nurse be present during your examination. So ask your parents what kind of physical you're getting and if it's a PAP, ask your mom or some other womanly figure you trust to explain what they do and why.
I'm male and I haven't had a doctor look 'down there' unless there was a problem in that region.
A physical is more about listening to your lung and bowel sounds, making sure that you can move your arms and legs correctly, checking your vision, ears, nose, and throat, and generally just looking for problems that are obvious. They will also check you oxygen saturation, temperature, and blood pressure. None of this should hurt and there are no needles or invasive things done for any of this. Blood testing might be order though.
When I had a physical recently, I was asked to put on a paper exam gown (the worst part of the entire thing) and keep my underwear on underneath. My doctor didn't touch 'down there' at all.
first a female should be present with you either you mom sister or a femal employee. you dont have to be examined down there unless u are sexually active and not a virgin. but u can still not allow anything u dont feel comfortable with. call and ask what they do so you will know, im sure any staff member can tell you. in general., height, weight, blood pressure, listen to heart and lungs are part of a physical. they may want to check your spine for curvature. blood tests are a maybe. they may want to palpate (feel) your tummy for masses. so i would wear a two piece outfit. goodluck and dont be scared.;)michele
