I love my Gaynor Mindens, but they aren't a good first pair because you need to know what you want. If you have a wide foot go for something in Bloch, I had the Aspriations for a long time but always had an issue with them breaking midshank. If your foot is narrow there's the capezios which are in a wide varitey of shanks. If your feet are really strong go for Grishko. For your first pair get a full shank shoe (example the Grishko 2007's are a 3/4 shank meaning its cut right under your heel). GET FITTED THE FIRST TIME. Otherwise it'll be hell trying to find the right shoe. <3 goodluck and i have pictures, email me at [email protected] if you'd like some. =)
blochs are great for beginners, they offer a ton of support and last ages. grishko is very comfortable and has a perfect balance platform so as to aid you with your balance :) but really, for the first year or so, you won't be doing much more than releves, echappes, soutenus and pas de bourres on pointe. don't worry to much about the brand, just be sure that it fits and is comfy.
