Police selection process: references: no close friends but just recent acquaintances?
I only had few close friends in my life time but I haven't talked to them for a long time. Recently I've been keeping to myself. Will investigators find this strange?
Depends on the investigator. I, personaly, would find it strange that you talk to no one? You NEVER go out? You have no neighbors that you chat with? Co-workers that you are on friendly terms with? Sounds like serial killer behavior. No offense, but really. I am a loner, but I am 'social" with people, just not cops, becuase they talk shop ALLTHE TIME!! If you can think of a few people you chat with, that is better than nothing.
They will find it a bit off. One of the things they look for is someone that is social and can interact with people. When I tested for my Dept I was out of state. The background officer flew out to my state to interview my co-workers. He only asked two questions.
1) If he got into a fight could he stop himself when the suspect was subdued or would he beat them?
2) Does he makes friends easily?
Being social is extremely important as an officer. Maybe corrections is up your alley.

Police officers deal with the public, in public, all day long. Not much of a career choice for someone who keeps to himself.
Not if you explained to them what you just said.
I'd find it peculiar that it worries you so much...
