I have found a Pom about two weeks ago and it was matted and flea infested. It was taken to shelter to see if it had chip and I hoped not as he deserves better than how he was. No chip and its been a while and no one called about an unneutered male cream Pom so I'm keepin him
Now he is sweet to me and doesn't show any aggression to me unless I yell at him in a louder voice if he pees marking in the house and that's the only time he's growled at me.
My dad lives with me and he snaps at my dad if he goes to pick him up he also growls at kids and even growled at my aunt when she picked him up.
He is getting better on marking in house but in going to get him neutered to help with marking.
Q1, if neutered will marking subside? He potties outside but if we're gone he potties.
Q2 , will he always be aggressive towards some people or may neutering be helpful.
Q3 , he gets along with dogs but doesn't like me giving others attention or anyone in close proximity of me. Is it a small dog thing or Pom thing or cuz he unneutered ?
Q4 could he been mistreated and that's why he acts like this?
Q5 I had to shave all but his ears due to Matt's and fleas. It's grown a bit and is soft. It should grow back rite?
he gets along with dogs well male or female quick. He is by the shelters lady 1.5 or 2 years. So I think it's just neglect

1. He may be territorial, but he may also be nervous, I have a Spitz who marked in the house when we first got her.
2. Try and train him to be more friendlier, neutering will not fix this.
3. He`s probably protective over you, my small Dogs don`t act that way.
4. Pomeranians (Like most Breeds) will act aggressive if poorly trained and/or poorly socialized.
5. Many say that if you shave a Pom the fur will not grow back properly,. But I`ve met allot more Pom`s who`s coats did grow back wonderful after being shaved, more then ones who didn`t. But this depends on the Dog.
I have a pom that is now 3 she is actually my daughters dog but she cannot have her where she is living and she was with me for 3 months as a pup then back with daughter for a year and now with me again for a year. She came from a really bad home she had her ear nailed to a floor with a nail gun was flea infested ect just like yours was when rescued. She has always had a peeing and pooping prob inside and still has accidents certainly not as bad as at first. I think they are nervy anxious type of dogs anyway and the background just hasnt helped.. she also gets a bit snappy starts with playing then she gets bitey and we have to redirect her behaviour. She is a barker and I understand that is part of their breed... she will bark at a fly.... He may have had bad experiences with men I had another dog rescued and again from a bad background that never forgot kids on bikes and or men in overalls and work boots. As it turned out the both of those were his tormentors and abusers before I got him. Dogs dont forget. My pom has a clip short summer at the moment and yes they do grow back pretty fast I might add. Yes the neuting will definately help with the peeing and prob the aggression. Make sure you are re training him on peeing by taking him out regularly hourly outside and using a key word for go pee (we say quicklies to our dogs and they know) It is only early days and good on you for rescuing him and giving him a great home he will take some time to rehabilitate and learn to trust you. If you need help in the future there are dog behavioralists avail to help people. Good luck
