Why do ALL of my joints creak, complain, and lock ALL of the time? Could it be due to past injuries? I am 27 years young, but the pain is getting to me.What can I do?
Yes, the snap, crackle and pop of joints is due to past injuries. If you played sports in school you probably have sustained some injuries to the joints, even if you are not aware of it.
Snapping etc. in the knee joints is because over time the meniscus, which is a round piece of cartilage that cushions the knee bones begins to deteriorate and small pieces of debris break off and float around, sometimes making the knees lock up. (It would be like putting as stick between spokes on a bike tire. Eventually, the wheel stops.) If you move around the "floaters" eventually move on and your knee unlocks. You also have fluid in the knee joint. Sometimes these fluid sacs dry up a little, making a rubbing, crackling sound. Then again, as we age our bones lose density over time and become arthritic. (That's how they determine how old the person was at time of death, when they examine the skeleton). If you play sports, or engage in heavy exercise/activity, to some degree this speeds up the arthritic process in the joints. Basketball (knees) and football (shoulders) are the sports most likely to cause injuries. Before you do anything else, get some Glucosamine Chondroitin. The pills are huge but you can buy them over the counter. I guarantee you will feel better within 24-48 hours. Take the pills three at a time, three times a day. Hope this helps. Take care
