There is really nothing you can do to prevent it from happening. It happens in thin women or larger women. It happens regardless of your general health before getting pregnant. You can't alter your diet and exercise to control it like you can with regular high blood pressure. And if you've had it once before, you are at a higher risk to get it again with subsequent pregnancies, but there is no guarantee that you will get it, you might not.
Sorry that's not what you want to hear, but it's true.
I had pre-ecclampsia with my daughter and had to deliver at 33 weeks because of it. She's doing very well now, but it made for a pretty scary pregnancy and I'm now dreading having another child. I know where you're coming from!
From the research I've done, there's basically a 25% chance that you'll have preeclampsia again. Are you seeing any specialists for this pregnancy? If not, I would insist to your OB that you do. You and your baby need the best chance of having a healthy, "normal" pregnancy this time around.
I've found that there's very little you can do to prevent pre-e a second or third time around. Here are some of the things you can do:
have your blood pressure and urine protein routinely monitored. If you do show signs of pre-e again, early intervention may be possible.
reduce your sodium intake
keep your feet elevated to help reduce swelling
eat low fat, high protein and high fiber foods
keep a healthy BMI (body mass index) before pregnancy.
Best of luck!
there isn't anything you can do. You probably gained so much weight as a result of the preclamsia. Unfortunately, there really isn't a prevention, just eat healthy, and exercise but don;t over exert yourself. i had it with my first and not my second. Good luck I hope it all works out.
all you can do is to eat healthy and try to rest plenty and do a 20 minutes walk is also good for a daily pregnancy womans.
also my friend went throught it she went the wrong way of not being healthy she eat alot of salts try and avoid salt too
good luck hope it gos well
You can excercise more during this pregnancy. Go for walks and avoid a high sodium diet. Drink plent of water as well. Good Luck.
Gaining too much weight could have been a huge factor....watch what you are eating and exercise moderately!!! Watch your salt intake as that can cause a fluid buildup!!
