Glaucoma patients are rarely prescribed marijuana and if they are it is in the late stages. Since she is 16 I am sure there are many other meds her ophthalmologist would like to try first. And please don't forget there are surgeries for glaucoma depending on the type... COAG, open angle glaucoma more than likely drops are the standard of care.. there is also closed angle glaucoma, and a laser procedure to make tiny holes in the iris is one of the things to treat it..
All in all, there are many things to do before getting your smoke on.
First of all, Texas does not acknowledge marijuana for medical use. Not only will the police disregard any medical notes within the state lines, but also doctors can be persecuted for recommending it.
DO NOT GET CAUGHT WITH IT IN TEXAS!!!!!
As others posted, there are detriments to smoking ANYTHING, most notably caused by high levels of tar and carbon monoxide created when any organic material is burned. That said, individuals need to consider their options and make an educated decision based on overall health.
It may be that marijuana helps glacucoma, but at what cost?
She can only get prescribed marijuana if a doctor were to prescribe it, and many (all?) would be unwilling to do so. There are more medicines than just marijuana for glaucoma and she would probably be prescribed one of those.
I don't know if it's illegal to give marijuana meant for medical use to minors, but if she is able to prove it's being used for medical reasons (documentation from a doctor, basically) she couldn't get in trouble.
to get prescribed marijauna would onnly be possible through a doctor of some sort, but marajauna for such a dieses does not, to me, seem like a good solution.
"The treatment of glaucoma is aimed at reducing intraocular pressure by improving aqueous outflow, reducing the production of aqueous, or both. Doctors accomplish these treatment goals with eyedrops, systemic medications, laser treatment, surgery, or a combination of treatments" -http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/glaucoma/DS00283/...
glaucoma is pressure behind the eye, that can cause damage to parts such as the optic nerve. it causes blindness sometimes because of it. marajauna is most commonley used for cancer patients in high pain..... they don't go together.
also, consider the fact she willl have glaucoma for the rest of her life. she will ALWAYs need continuos treatment. marajauna damages the body, and it's even riskeir in people in thier teens. i don't think resolving eye pain with such a drug at 16, and for the rest of her life, if a wise thing.
hope it helps ^.^
Marijuana is effective for some human beings as a painkiller, fairly for many cancers victims, multiple sclerosis, and so on. in spite of the undeniable fact that that would not regulate the adverse ingredient effects of marijuana use. each little thing approximately drugs is a stability between well-being earnings as against well-being expenses. for individuals who can't get discomfort alleviation via regularly used drugs, the medicinal use of marijuana is a no-brainer. For entertainment use - it somewhat is not so reliable an concept - in basic terms like all different drug truly.
