A primary partition is a main partition, which is usually the type of partition your operating system is on.
And extended partition is a container for logical partitions.
So other partitions that show up as drive letters in Windows could be either primary or logical partitions. But currently you can only have 4 primary or extended partitions on a drive. So if you need more than 4 partitions, you would need to make one of those an extended partition. And then you could put more logical partitions in that. I am not sure if there is a limit to the number of logical partitions.
Many computers come with 1 or 2 other partitions on them for restoration or recovery, besides the OS partition. So you may be limited in how many additional partitions you can make, unless you create an extended partition first and make them logical partitions.
50Gb for domicile windows (7?) is incredibly low, basically use the hollow ssd as a huge-unfold device partition make the 2nd disk additionally huge-unfold (as much as 4 huge-unfold partitions may well be made while greater use logical)
To put it simply, C: is Primary, D: E: F: .... are all Logical ones.
And D: E: F: ... as a whole one are referred to as Extended.
