Using contraceptives, they usually will give a percentage of effectiveness.
For example, if you use a condom it is 92% effective.
If you use a diaphragm with spermicide, it is 90% effective.
If you use Fertilitary Awareness methods (abstinence during ovulation), it is 80% effective.
What if I use each of these methods at the SAME time? I dont know how to figure the effectiveness percentage out....(I obviously can't just add them together. I'm sure it has something to do with statistics. LOL. math people, please help me!)
If I COMBINE all of these methods, what is the overall probability of effectiveness when combined. Please show me how you got your answer. Thanks!!!

Condom chance of pregnancy: 8%
diaphragm chance: 10%
fertility awareness chance: 20%
Now, multiply all these values together to find your chances of getting pregnant.
(.08)*(.10)*(.20) = .0016
.0016 * 100% = 0.16
You have a 0.16% chance of getting pregnant.
The overall effectiveness would therefore be 100 - .16 = 99.84%
