In the figure below, seven charged particles are fixed in place to form a square with an edge length of 3.4 cm. How much work must we do to bring a particle of charge +6e from an infinite distance to the center of the square?

The work done by "somebody" to bring "q" to the center is the sum of the PE's that "q" has with each charge;
W = kqq1/r1 + kqq2/r2 + kqq3/r3 + ...
= kq[q1/r1+q2/r2+q3/r3+q4/r4+q5/r5+q6/r6+q7/r7]
Use the correct sign of the charges, so some terms will be negative.
The various "r's" are distance from center to each charge. Distance is always positive.
The charge's can be numbered in any order you like.
Remember to change distance to meters and use e = 1.6x10^-19 C, and the answer will be in Joules.
Enjoy.
