Is it acceptable to racial profile all Muslims while in Airport security? I mean, they did blow up those planes on 9/11 and now tried it again.
And if so, is it acceptable to profile all fundamentalist Christians who come within 500 feet of an abortion clinic? I mean, they did blow up 18 of those clinics already.

Muslim isn't a race. It's a religion.
"Profiling," racial or otherwise, is a valuable tool, as the guy "from law enforcement background" said. But the tool has it's limits. If we depend too much on the profile of "muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40" we would have overlooked the mother with babe in arms who was involved in the plot in the UK just the other day. And what about the "American Taliban" John Walker Lindh?
If the tool of profiling is relied on too heavily, people like these are overlooked & we are in great trouble!
Your example of profiling all fundamentalist Christians who come within 500 feet of an abortion clinic is flawed only in that that 500 ft radius would include mostly public property. A better example would be screening everyone coming into a private building where a "Pro-Choice" convention is being held. Then it would be fair, although difficult, to include a profile in the screening process.
I figure, if someone looks even remotely suspicious, pull out the rubber gloves and vaseline! I am a black female and I am constantly being pulled over for driving in my own neighborhood, where I own a home across the street from the country club and golf course. If anyone should be pissed off about racial profiling, it should be me, yet I haven't made a peep. At least there are cops in my neighborhood patroling (or some semblance thereof). Now if something should happen in my neighborhood and the idiot cops drop the ball, and the person who got away just happens to be white, then I'm going to be the first one down at the station holding a picket sign because this means that the idiot cops are obviously useless and all that racial profiling didn't mean anything.
Saying that racial profiling is wrong is pretending to be naive in the name of political correctness.
Coming from a law enforcement background, I can say that not only is profiling ethical, it is vital to effective security. Race is one of the many factors used to profile, including dress, demeanor, grooming, location, etc.
And to the point the OP made, you are 100% correct! If you are able to determine through whatever means that an individual is part of a group known to be a higher threat level in a given situation - you had BETTER profile them and keep an eye on them.
The right to free speech, as manifested by peaceful demonstrations outside of abortion clinics, is a constitutionally guaranteed right.
The "right" to board an airplane is not. It's a discretionary activity that carries with it certain rules, certain risks, and certain limitations.
Our country is at war. When we were at war with Japan in WW II, Japanese people in America were profiled -- even though Japan had not attacked any US civilian targets.
And pardon my political incorrectness here, but I don't see why 80-year-old Grandma Jones is seen by airport security as just as much a terror risk as a bearded guy named Ahmed who's here on a student visa, but is flying from NY to LA even though he should be in class that morning.
You're amazing! If one is true, then so should the other.
However, I think the fundamentalist Christians are more dangerous than the majority of Muslims. I don't agree with racial profiling in any case though and not for any reason.

If you chose "D" for each of the 13 questions - you scored 100%...
Nope, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?
So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people.
They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old, Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning and former Governor Joe Foss, A 62 year old fat, bald, disabled man that really looks American, (Me).
...but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone lest they be guilty of profiling.
Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other dunder-headed attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel doubly ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense. As the writer of the award winning story "Forrest Gump" so aptly put it, "Stupid is as stupid does."
I agree, if one practice is accepted than the other should be too. Profiling bothers me because I hate seeing people grouped together and assumptions made based on appearance/nationality/religion. I guess you have to choose what the priority is - safety, or individual rights.
You look for the Enemy no matter what it take's.
They are trying to kill us.
As far as those Clinic's:
Those Responsible People might have been DECIEVED, might have been RELIGIOUS, might have been BORN-AGAIN (Children of GOD)-----------
BUT THEY WERE NOT CHRISTIAN's.
You can be a Child of GOD and not be a Christian.
MY DEFINITION (and the BIBLICAL one too) is this:
CHRISTIAN----Jesus "Christ"-Like.
There are Alot of Children of GOD running around "Decieved", Acting Like the Devil.
Christ is not the Last Name of JESUS, it mean's The ANNOINTED, your Annointed by the HOLY SPIRIT, when you get to a Position in the Annointing, that you are Walking in HOLINESS, you will ACT like JESUS, TALK like JESUS, THINK like JESUS---don't you think JESUS coulda' TOOK OUT all of those People who were Crucifiying HIM?
JESUS woulda NEVER EVER done that to the Clinic's.
Ditto.............JLU
Good point, but innaccurate, since Christianity is not a race. For that matter, even though most arabs are muslim, some of them are not. Muslim is not a race either.
Sure as hell is!
on your second part, what race is a Christian?
Black and poor? White and Rich? Itialan?
some people just miss place there brains!
