If you really wanted them to know about vampires, you could calmly enlighten them with some vampire facts. If you were just trying to gauge their reaction to the idea of vampires, you could simply agree that it was a joke and laugh it off. Real vampires don't go around revealing themselves to everyone, though. It's not a status symbol to lord over others. That's just childish.
