Salam Yes followers(jama'ah)of taraweeh can go until finish which is usually closed by a witr of three raka'ats or we can go home just after 4 time of two raka'ats(8 raka'ats) only without witr, because witr is not included in the so called taraweeh Generally we do that if we want to do some prayers more at home such as tahajjud prayer which will be ended with witr.We are not allowed to perform witr twice during the day in 24 hours.
so its not compulsory to do all 20 as some people do, if you've got work or you are tired you could just do 8 and home Allah credits you for that.
my self i'm thinking of cutting down my taraweeh because i dont wake early for work and due to that my boss is trying to create a problem for me. but i wont let him, because islam smplifies everything, i would just cut my taraweeh and then try and wake up early.
The prophet (saw)prayed 8 but umar (ra) prayed 20 and the prophet never put a fixed amount and some people think it is better to follow the messenger while others think more the merrier

taravee isn't fard nor its quantity is fixed.
you can offer as many as you like,
if you read the history you'll come to know people even use to offer 30+ travee.

There is no min or max....the standards are 8 or 20.
The amount of Quran read is what matters. If someone reads 200 ayahs in two rakah...its better than someone who prays 20 but only reads 100.
If someone doesn't feel like staying for 20...8 is a nice stopping point.
because Taraweeh could be either 8 or 20. (offcourse you get more credit for 20 but 8 is for ease)
Taraweeh is prayed 8 mostly plus three witr.
most ppl can pray the three witr at home, that is if you gonna walk up late.
also the last ten days, we only pray 8 and include the three witr in the Taajud prayer that is prayer in the last ten days.

Some people might be tired or others have work next day.
Others are too lazy to do all 20 Rakat of Tarweeh.
because taraweeh is a unnecessary prayer
They're probably tired or have work
