I was named after my older brothers classmate in second grade, who was named Shannon. Coincidently the nurse on staff happened to have the same name as what my mom wanted to choose already.
My sons are Liam and Finn (Short for Finnegan) and I just found out there is a movie about two brothers named Liam and Finn. Kinda cool!
Well, my Yahoo Answers name, Bet, is part of my real name. Eliza 'bet' h, get it? And my middle name, Catharine, is my mom's name. (A tradition on my dad's side of the family is the parents name is turned into the child's middle name). This didn't work out too well for my sister. Her middle name is Michelle, and she hates it (see above comment from Karate Kid).
I think my name means good fame or fortune, not really sure but it's Robert. And in my family it seems everyone has Robert as their first or middle name. My dad's name is Robert, brother's middle name is Robert as well as his son, my grandfather was a Robert and a few of my uncles had Robert as their middle name. Weird. If I ever have kids, none of them will be named Robert. K, that's a lot of Robert's in one answer. I'm done
My name is Anitra Diane I am named for my mother Anita, my grandmother Juanita and my aunt Diana....
For me the names mean strength , independance and no fear like the women I am named for.. They have each stood up in their time, they have each faced life head on and they have each weathered their share of bumps and bruises along the way.. I am but the latest in a long line of amazing women...
My middle name is the feminine version of my father's name and I can't stand it. Practically all of the Michelles that I have ever met are odd. I love my first name though, so I guess it's all even.
It doesn't mean anything special to me and tradition be damned. My folks were like yours and didn't have any imagination. So like you, I'm named after my father and grandfather.
I don't see why it's so great unless I'm feeling pompous and I introduce myself as "JavaJoe the III Esq".
Eh. Nothing significant here. Me mum just liked the way the name sounded. After she chose my name she decided that she liked the meaning but I would have been what's-her-name even if it meant "oh crap!"
Priscilla is not my real name. Strangely, I was named after a terrorist in Northern Ireland my parents knew who was executed. Not a popular story, but at least it's an interesting one.
I was named after an idiot in a famous 1960's TV show, my dad was a reefer head and my mom a drunk, they made LSD in the bathtub and smoked cactus buds in the spring.

Sure, but doesn't that get annoying when you are all together and someone says, "Hey Art!" and all three of you have to turn around?
