Can you clarify what you mean by 'actually readable'? Are you talking about not being able to actually see the characters? The ones on wikipedia seem pretty legible to me, although they're not necessarily arranged in the best order for learning.

As for kanji dictionaries, there are many; I quite like this one because it shows an animation of the stroke order as well:
