I know this sounds crazy, but here in Washington there is a Vigilante named Phoenix Jones. He is looking for people to recruit, and I've always wanted to be a super hero and help innocents, but I know it's a little crazy. should I become a vigilante??(I have been a martial artist over 14 years, a gymnast for 12, and I'm good with firearms/gadgets.) Also, is it illegal to be a vigilante here??

You can't be a vigilante because a vigilante acts above the law, which is illegal everywhere, but you might be able to be a superhero. There is no law (yet) against being a superhero. (A recent official report to Seattle PD called in part for superheroes to be "restricted" but they rejected that.) Phoenix Jones has always said he acts within the law and so he rejects the "v" label. He (and his team) patrols and spots crime in progress and calls 911. Sometimes they will stand between drunk fighters, or the belligerent guy chasing the other guy, and so forth. In online video, I've seen them "help innocents" like get a drunk girl to a taxi and away from street-roaming guys she doesn't know who have taken an interest in her, and they applied first aid and called an ambulance for a guy who crashed his bicycle hard and was badly injured. The trickiest parts legally are steps further to manual physical force or use of pepper spray or taser or gadgets (NO FIREARMS) and then to "citizen's arrest." You don't need a Yahoo! answer for those, you probably need a three day course, LOL! I am linking an official document on citizen's arrest though, the best I could find. If you actually pursue this, make sure to keep secret your real-life identity, because employers tend to frown on superheroes. As well, I hope you realize from the start that it's extreme high risk, and you could be killed by the criminal you're trying to stop.
Real Life Vigilantes
Yes, most likely you will violate laws to be a Vigilante. The acts of a vigilante is illegal in all States. It's not about stopping crimes you see. It's a title for people who simply attack certain people who might be criminals. For example, a vigilante thinks some one is selling drugs and goes and attacks the person. The person doesn't have any drugs on them and you just go to prison for assault and battery
You think vigilantes are doing something. They probably won't even make a little dent in the community. However, there is another law enforcement and that's the Kingdom Of God. The real Righteousness comes from God and He is over all. Don't go down the vigilante path. Go down God's path and learn of Him and reflect Him and one day he'll put you to good use if you want it enough.
I see you going on the wrong path, don't do it. (: Go with the right one.
Peace.
GOD'S KINGDOM UP!
All you have to do is make two quick phone calls. Call the state police. And call the FBI. This way, you will know if your actions would violate state, or federal laws.
Can I be Super Unicorn Girl, I could use my immense powers of persuasion, to entrap criminals.
